We understand that every second counts when it comes to repairing your home after a loss. That's why we're dedicated to making sure your home claim experience moves as quickly and efficiently as possible. Understanding the process can help you take things step by step.
  • Step 1: Make a claim.

    Call 1-800-588-7400 to report a home claim anytime, any day. Please have your policy number ready.

  • Step 2: Talk with a claims team member.

    Your agent will be notified and an Encompass claims specialist will follow up with you by the next business day.1

  • Step 3: Evaluate damages and current coverage.

    Confirm and determine coverage based on the circumstances of your loss.

  • Step 4: Prepare an estimate.

    When necessary your claims team member may schedule an inspection of the damage and prepare an estimate for covered damages based on necessary repairs and/or replacement. We will work with you and your contractor to establish an estimate of repairs.

  • Step 5: Review your estimate.

    Your adjuster will contact you to discuss the damage estimate and settlement based on your policy provisions, terms and coverage.

  • Step 6: Complete your claim.

    We will send you appropriate documents and applicable payments.

Know what your home coverage includes.

Your claims service representative will work closely with you to help explain exactly what protection your policy provides. And for some claims, these additional services may also be available:

  • Workmanship guaranteed on repairs.

    You have the right to choose your own contractor. If you elect to work with your own vendor or contractor, your claims representative will prepare and review the estimate with you and provide you with a check for the repairs. If you prefer, we can refer an approved contractor, pending this option is made available in your area and for the loss in question. Should you choose to use one of these vendors, the workmanship of the repairs will be guaranteed for up to three years for materials and one year for labor from the date the repairs are completed.

  • Emergency water mitigation.2

    We can work promptly to arrange for emergency water mitigation services, pending this option is made available in your area and for the loss in question, to help limit and prevent further damage as a result of a covered loss.
